During the middle ages,Lovage was a very popular kitchen herb. Overtime it has become a much less common kitchen staple. The leaves can be used in soups and salads. The roots are edible and can be grated into salads or eaten like a vegetable. The seeds can be used as a spice much like anise. The entire plant is very aromatic and has a flavor and scent similar to celery. It also has antiseptic qualities and may be used on wounds.
