Endive

Endive is a curly green leafy plant that while technically not a lettuce, it does lend itself to salads much in the same way.  Like all members of the chicory family, endive has a somewhat bitter flavor, but the intensity of the bitterness depends on the season. In our area it performs best when planted either in early spring or late in the fall when the days are cooler. 75 days. Sun to partial shade. Annual.
