(Borage officinalis)

Borage is often used as a companion plant for tomatoes, squash, strawberries, spinach and legumes. It attracts pollinating bees and is said to deter tomato horn worms. Both the flowers and leaves are edible. The flowers are vibrant blue and are a fun addition to salads.  I love to use them to decorate cupcakes!  The leaves have a flavor similar to cucumbers. The leaves are best used when young, as the stalks and leaves become prickly as they mature.  Best in a sunny spot. Annual.
